A bit about me
I'm Kimberly Bayer, Certified Professional Coach with a Masters Degree in Counseling, parent coach and owner of Better Days Parent Coaching. My mission is to guide parents who are feeling overwhelmed with their child's challenging behaviors and big emotions by helping them to develop their own emotional regulation and prioritize self-care.
I am a mom to 2 kids who have had lots of challenges, including ADHD, school avoidance, anxiety and intense emotions. Before I worked on my own emotional regulation I was the mom that yelled and slammed doors. We tried punishments, rewards, bribes, you name it! But nothing improved, actually a lot of times things got worse.
Now I can confidently say that I yell very rarely, and when I do, I know it's time to reflect on my own self-care. As parents we put the needs of everyone else above our own. But here's the thing...self-care isn't selfish, it's vital!
What makes my newsletter different?
I know your time is precious so I will keep my emails short but valuable. No long personal stories or blog posts, just easy ways to help you make parenting a little easier.
The goal of my newsletters is to help parents. Although I may advertise products or paid events, I will never tease you with a parenting tip but then require you to pay to learn more. Anything I do sell will be one set price, no subscriptions! And all digital downloads will be yours to keep forever.
I will not spam your inbox! I only plan on sending out my newsletter monthly. I may send other emails to let you know about upcoming events, but they will not be very frequent.
If you ever have questions or need some support, just reply to the emails. I will respond as quickly as possible.
What kind of content you can expect?
Every email I send will be brief, but packed with actions you can take today to become a calmer parent. You will find tips on how to:
- Prioritize self-care
- Practice mindfulness
- Reframe your thinking
- Develop your emotional regulation
- Improve your relationship with your kids
- Discipline without yelling or punishments
...and more!
A simple self-care action
Self-care is so important for parents. You can't expect to stay calm when your child is melting down if you are already in a heightened state of stress.
A really easy way to incorporate self-care (and mindfulness), is to simply sit in a room alone for a few minutes and do nothing. Don't check your phone, don't make your grocery list, just sit and focus on your breathing.
If it's hard (or impossible) to sit alone in the house without being interrupted, try sitting in the car or just stand outside.
Taking a few minutes out of your hectic life to just "be" will help your body know that it is safe and your nervous system will reset accordingly.
